Lord Ganesha favourite Modak with Banana Leaf in Pure Silver

Goddess Parvati was curious to know what this sweetened food item was that instantly filled Bal Ganesha’s stomach. When she learnt that it was a modak, Goddess Parvati expressed her wish that Lord Ganpati’s devotees must offer modaks and laddos to him, which has carried on across generations ever since.

In Hinduism / Hindu Dharma to offer food to the Deities during ritualistic worship or puja at home or temples. This offering is called as Naivadya. It signifies the actual gross state of the individual. Offering Naivadya is the last step in puja. At that time, the individual is in a state of complete surrender unto the Deity; hence, the (Naivadya carrying) leaf is placed facing downward. Offering Naivadya helps please the superior Deities, Deity of the premises and Deity of the place in shorter time.
